Sarah Fernandez is a French artist based in Amsterdam, working primarily with digital tools and immersive cinema.
After a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Panthéon-Sorbonne, Sarah pursued postgraduate studies in Buenos Aires in "Lenguajes Combinados Cruzados," focusing on analogue cinema. Fascinated by the cognitive weirdness of digitally mediated existence, she explores speculative philosophy and worldbuilding as a way of navigating thoughts and doubt.
Sarah later got a Master’s in Artistic Research from the Netherlands Film Academy, where she explored digital ecologies. Her practice combines philosophical inquiry with digital tools to investigate the complexities of identity, gender, and perception. By integrating VR and immersive cinema, she explores speculative futures and challenges traditional ideas of self and reality.
Her work has been part of residencies and exhibitions in Amsterdam, Berlin, France, and Buenos Aires. Recently, she has focused on decentralizing human perception, investigating new relationships between nature, technology, and identity through immersive experiences. These experiences often touch on the techno-spiritual realm, where the boundaries between the physical, virtual, and spiritual worlds begin to blur.
